My company has been working from home since mid-March. We have established a cross-functional team to decide when we are going to begin to allow our employees to work in the office. We are planning to do a phased approach. Have any of your companies set a date to return? How did you decide on that date?
SHRM Express Requests has a series of resources posted on the website specific to this topic.
Thank you for the recommendation.
I would like to see what some of the local companies are doing. Any companies out there who have been working from home and are looking to go back to the office?
Mark Bakker of Nexsen Pruet just posted this recently on returning to work: https://www.nexsenpruet.com/insights/returning-to-healthy-business-operations-in-the-age-of-covid-19-advance-planning-checklist-and-considerations.
We've got a monthly membership meeting on May 12th where return to work and "new normal" business practices will be the topic. You can sign up on our website under "Events."
We are putting a plan in place for return to work, but at the same time, we are having conversations about the need to do it. Our plants are still running, but if our division headquarters is functioning well from home (which it is), then why bring those people back to work, have them practice social distancing, not allow meetings, implement one-way foot traffic, stagger start and stop times, etc. It seems in many ways it's not any better to bring people back under that type of new normal. On the other hand, our plants have hardly missed a beat.
Food for thought.
