Unlocking Leadership Potential: A Zipline Journey to Self-Discovery and Authentic
    Leadership Styles

Speakers:  Joanne Wright and Steve Wright

    Registration Fee: $25

    Deadline: March 28, 2024

Refunds: Cancellations must be made by March 28, 2024 in order
    to be fully refunded.

    Description:

Engaging and caring leaders play a vital role in retaining talent within organizations.  For leaders, the journey from individual success to achieving workforce harmony is navigated through the zipline of profound self-awareness.  What can a company do to increase its key leader’s self-awareness?  There's nothing like finding out for yourself.  Right here.  Right now.  So put on your harness, helmet and gloves.  You’re about to hop on the zipline!

In your leadership development efforts, have you ever known a leader your employees just wanted to avoid?  Maybe he was demeaning, or perhaps she micromanaged their tasks.  Or was the leader so positive that you couldn’t trust what they said was true?  So often, leaders succumb to fear-based behaviors and attitudes especially under stress.  Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, these leaders are operating in their shadow.  Clearly, not their best self.  Could this possibly be true of you too?  (Hint - it’s an entirely human dynamic).

HR professionals are attuned to the life experiences that bring applicants, new hires and veteran employees to places of deep self-awareness.  Our zipline begins with common and often painful experiences that bring us face-to-face with reality.  During challenges imposed from outside ourselves, it’s the mirror showing us our inside that challenges us the most.

As the Zipline descends, this workshop explores the diversity of motive needs within the leaders of any organization.  These deep motivations in turn drive three distinct leadership styles.  Understanding one’s own style unlocks self-awareness at a deeper level even than skill, interest, or aptitude.  Like a mirror it reveals the powerful “why” that drives any “what” or “how” in the leader’s life.  In this interactive workshop, we’ll invite you to take a 9-question survey to discover your primary motive need and leadership style.

In addition, you’ll see the unique shadow side of each style.  It’s a shadow that drives counter-productive thoughts, emotions and actions especially when you are under stress.  Of course, we will give you strategies to manage your shadow so that your landing in the middle of your team at the end of the zipline will feel like an exhilarating step toward authentic influence.  The Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM) has vetted and endorsed this evidence-based framework based on Dr. Will Sparks PhD research at Queens University in Charlotte, NC.

Steve and Joanne Wright formed Kinetic Talent in 2019.   Through leadership development and team facilitation they realign work cultures toward respect and deeper purpose.  Married 34 years, they moved to Asheville after raising four children in Rhode Island.  They are ICF certified coaches who love hiking, crossfit and deep conversations with friends around the table.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Enhance Self-Awareness: Participants will develop a  heightened sense of self-awareness, understanding their leadership styles, motives, and potential shadow aspects that may impact their effectiveness.

    2. Navigate Motive Needs: Explore and comprehend the diversity of motive needs within leadership. Participants will gain insights into how these motivations influence their leadership behaviors and decision-making.

    3. Identify Leadership Styles: Understand the three distinct leadership styles driven by deep motivations. Participants will identify their primary leadership style and recognize its impact on their approach to leadership.

    4. Recognize Shadow Aspects: Participants will learn to recognize and navigate the shadow side of their leadership style. This includes understanding counter-productive thoughts, emotions, and actions that may emerge, especially under stress.

    5. Apply SHRM-Endorsed Framework: Utilize the evidence-based framework endorsed by the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM), rooted in Dr. Will Sparks PhD's research. Participants will apply this framework to their leadership styles for practical insights.

    6. Interactive Self-Discovery: Engage in an interactive survey designed to help participants uncover their primary motive needs and leadership styles. This hands-on approach encourages active participation and personal reflection.

    7. Cultivate Authentic Leadership: The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to cultivate authentic leadership, aligning their actions with their underlying motivations and fostering genuine, effective leadership in the workplace.

    8. Promote Team Harmony: Explore how individual self-awareness and authentic leadership styles contribute to achieving workforce harmony. Participants will gain strategies for creating a positive and cohesive team environment.

    9. Facilitate Continuous Growth: Provide participants with tools and strategies for ongoing self-reflection and growth in their leadership journey beyond the workshop. Encourage a commitment to continuous improvement and development.

    Speakers:

    Joanne Wright

Born in Reading, PA, Joanne Wright inherited a love of helping others think outside the box from her dad, an inventor.   Leaders today need human skills to attract and retain the best employees.  Joanne turns her client’s real-life challenges into reflective experiences of transformational growth. In addition to being credentialed through the International Coaching Federation, and administering leadership assessments, Joanne has years of experience with counseling, enabling personal change, and developing effective services for caring, support and transformation in her community.

Joanne’s sessions are like a calm oasis, a safe place to explore sources of stress and strategies for resiliency.  As a conference speaker on parenting, relationships, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and anxiety, she sees lights turn on, knowing people are charting a new course with courage.

    Steve Wright

Steve Wright, from Princeton, NJ,  holds an ACC credential     through the International Coaching Federation.  For nearly three decades, Steve filled management, training and leadership roles at Amica Insurance.  A certified trainer in the Integrity Selling and Integrity Coaching programs, he developed hundreds of leaders in the art of customer service and leadership at this   award-winning auto insurance company.  He presents seminars  on leadership, self-awareness, communication and             emotional intelligence.

Entrepreneurs, executives and front-line workers find coaching conversations with Steve comfortable and engaging.  Curious about people and the world around him, every session opens up the minds and options of his clients. This comes from years of relating in cross-cultural settings, with customers, team members and the many conversations with four engaging adult kids and his wife, Joanne.  Because of a religious studies degree from Brown University and experience as a trauma-informed counselor, clients feel heard and adopt personalized strategies. His appreciation for the full spectrum of holistic practices allows clients to develop personal habits that give them resilience under stress.
