This session, titled "Creating a Sustainable DEIB Culture Starting with Company Leadership," delves into the pivotal role that organizational leaders play in fostering an enduring culture that values diversity and inclusion. We explore why it is essential to sustain DEIB efforts over time and provide actionable strategies for engaging and inspiring leadership commitment to DEIB. Participants will gain insights into methodically incorporating DEIB principles into their organization's strategic plan, utilizing best practices tailored for leadership, and cultivating an inclusive leadership culture. This session equips attendees to initiate and maintain a culture of DEIB within their organizations, driving tangible and lasting change.

India Underwood is the Director of Human Resources and Administration for Safe Harbor in Greenville, SC where she has held this position for 2 years. Prior to her role as Safe Harbor, India spent 3 years as a Human Resources generalist with the Hope Center for Children. India is passionate about DE&I having been an active member of the GSHRM DEI committee for the past three years.
India enjoys working in a team environment and is passionate about supporting the missions of the nonprofits with which she works. Her mantra is “Delivering HR with Heart.” When she is not wearing her HR Director hat, India is married and is mom to one child with one on the way. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in biology.
HR Certification Credit: GSHRM is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities. This program is pending for 1 hour of SHRM re-certification credit and 1 hour of HRCI General re-certification credit. Certificates will be emailed to those in attendance after the meeting along with a Feedback Survey.
Poinsett Club Dress Code: Business casual. For gentlemen, a necktie is not required. Ladies shall dress appropriately. No jeans, shorts, or tennis shoes will be allowed. Cell phone use is not allowed in the Club.
