Description:

This program would focus on best practices for conducting internal investigations, including when to bring on an outside, independent consultant and when and how to utilize legal counsel in these investigations. These presenters have done investigations across the country and bring a wealth of experience and anecdotes to their presentation and can provide some good hands-on training and tips to HR professionals faced with potential investigations at their employers.

Speakers:

Sarah Batson

Sarah is a skilled litigator and employment attorney who guides employers through a wide variety of complex disputes and compliance issues. Sarah practices in federal and state court and arbitrates in North and South Carolina. Sarah’s colleagues describe her as tenacious and smart – she has superb instincts and devotes herself to her clients’ needs. Sarah wants to understand her clients’ business strategies and workforce to deliver legal advice and strategies suited to help clients achieve their goals and succeed. Sarah skillfully walks clients through tricky internal investigations and compliance issues, and she embraces a challenge. Sarah ensures client responsiveness and effectively manages a litigation team best suited for the client's needs. Sarah also serves as a trusted advisor to employers navigating FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, OSHA, and other regulatory issues.



Jennifer Floyd 

Jennifer started her career in Human Resources shortly after graduating from Clemson University with a BS in Marketing. After spending two years in sales and figuring out her passion was elsewhere, she accepted a role in recruiting with an international search firm. Immediately drawn to employment law issues, Jennifer spent the next few years helping companies of all sizes find needed talent in finance, accounting and administrative positions. Her recruitment experience led her to a manufacturer in the Northeast as a Human Resources Generalist supporting union and non-union employees across the US. After relocating back home in 2001, she joined Canal Insurance Company where she spent the next 13 years. In her role as VP, Human Resources, Jennifer oversaw all aspects of HR. She has also served as HR Director at ScanSource, Inc., and as VP, HR for MidCountry Financial Corp., a consumer finance and banking institution. Her specialties are strategic and business planning, corporate/business coaching, benefit plan management, organizational development, compliance and investigative work. Jennifer received her RCCTM (Registered Corporate Coach) certification in 2020 and has operated as owner and President of HR Experts on Demand, a full-service HR Consulting firm since 2017.

       

HR Certification Credit: GSHRM is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities. This program is pending for 1 hour of SHRM re-certification credit and 1 hour of HRCI General re-certification credit. Certificates will be emailed to those in attendance after the meeting along with a Feedback Survey.

Poinsett Club Dress Code: Business casual. For gentlemen, a necktie is not required. Ladies shall dress appropriately. No jeans, shorts, or tennis shoes will be allowed. Cell phone use is not allowed in the Club.
